3-Day Batanes Package: North Batan, Sabtang and South Batan

Day one: North Batan, from 12:00

Aircraft into Basco land late morning, which is why day one is built as an afternoon and starts at 12:00 with pickup from your accommodation. The North Batan loop is compact — everything sits within a short drive of the town — and it front-loads the province's easiest views while you are still adjusting to the wind.

The route takes in Basco Cathedral, the PAGASA radar station and Tukon Chapel on the ridge above town, the Dipnaysupuan Japanese tunnel dug into the hillside during the Second World War, Valugan Boulder Beach on the Pacific side where the shore is andesite thrown down by Mount Iraya, then Naidi Hills with Basco Lighthouse and Vayang Rolling Hills for the last of the light. You are back at your accommodation by 18:00.

Day two: Sabtang, from 05:30

The early start is not the operator being difficult. The faluwa — the round-bottomed Ivatan boat that crosses to Sabtang — leaves Ivana Port at roughly 06:00 to 07:00 and usually only once a day, so the transfer south has to happen in the dark. The crossing takes 30 to 45 minutes across water where the currents of the West Philippine Sea and the Pacific meet, and it is called off entirely when the channel is rough.

On the island the day is villages: San Vicente Ferrer Church at the port, the Savidug stone houses, the Chamantad-Tinyan viewpoint, Chavayan where the vakul and kanayi headgear is still woven by hand, then Nakabuang Beach and the Ahaw stone arch. Lunch is on Sabtang. The boat comes back at about 13:00 to 14:00 and you are in Basco by 15:00, which leaves the afternoon free.

Take a motion-sickness tablet before boarding. Kat, who travelled in April 2025, wrote that she took one and still did not feel good on the twenty-minute return leg, and she is not the only reviewer to say so.

Day three: South Batan, from 09:00

The longest drive and the one most people remember. South Batan is the coast road through Mahatao, Ivana and Uyugan: Chawa View Deck on the cliffs, the Mahatao boat shelter port, San Carlos Borromeo Church, the Homoron Blue Lagoon and White Beach, the House of Dakay from the 1880s, the Honesty Coffee Shop where you pay into a box, the Alapad Rock Formation, and Racuh a Payaman — Marlboro Country — where the pasture runs to a cliff edge above the Pacific with cattle grazing loose on it.

The PHP 100 Ivana LEAH fee is collected somewhere in this day, in cash. Finish is 17:00 at your accommodation.

How weather changes the order

The two Batan routes are road-based and can be swapped or reversed freely. Sabtang cannot. When the channel closes, operators reshuffle: Karima, who travelled in January 2025, described the agency rearranging the schedule the night before so that nothing was lost despite bad weather.

That flexibility is the strongest practical argument for booking a package rather than three separate day tours. Three separate bookings on three separate dates cannot be reshuffled by anyone; one package with one operator can.

Inside the $96.79

The listing includes admission to attractions, an English or Filipino-speaking guide, lunch on each tour day, round-trip transfers to and from your hotel, the Protected Area Management Board fee, the Visitor's Sustainable Ecotourism fee, the port fee and the boat transfers to Sabtang.

That is the full set of standard on-island charges. Buying the same day independently means paying the Sabtang boat fare and the island's environmental fee yourself, at the port, in cash.

Outside it

The Ivana Mandatory Tourist Registration and Local Environmental and Heritage Fee — the LEAH fee — is PHP 100 per person, in force since January 2026 and paid on site, with a discount for senior citizens and PWDs holding valid IDs. The listing names it explicitly as excluded. Tips, insurance and personal expenses are also excluded, and the listing notes that insurance is not provided and recommends arranging your own.

Separate from all of that is the provincial visitor registration. Since 15 June 2026, under Executive Order No. 23, Series of 2026, every visitor pre-registers at bookings.breathtakingbatanes.com and pays PHP 405 per person — PHP 200 ecotourism fee plus PHP 205 visitor ID fee — before travelling. You submit an ID or passport, a verification selfie, your accommodation and an accredited tour operator, and present the emailed QR code at Basco Airport. No tour price on this site includes it.

Cash, because cards mostly do not work

Basco has two banks, Landbank and PNB, and no money-changing facilities. Many establishments take cash only, which is why the listing tells travellers outright to bring emergency cash.

Budget pesos for the LEAH fee, the Honesty Coffee Shop, souvenirs, drinks and anything outside the included lunches. The PHP 405 registration is the exception — that one is paid online in advance by QRPH, card or over the counter.

Book it if you have three clear touring days

Three days is the working minimum to see North Batan, South Batan and Sabtang, and this package is built exactly to that shape. At $96.79 per person it costs less than a third of the 4-day GetYourGuide package that covers the same three routes for $331, and less than booking the same routes as three separate day tours, which would run past $270 at the single-day prices on this site.

The review record is the other reason. Six of the eight listings compared here are new activities with no ratings at all. This one has 66 reviews behind a 4.8, and reviewers keep describing the same thing: an unhurried pace. One wrote that it did not feel like they had to rush to see everything and that they were not tired after three days, which is not what three consecutive touring days usually feels like.

Do not book it if your flights only leave two days

The Sabtang day eats a full day and cannot be compressed. If you land in the afternoon and fly out on day three, take the 2-day package at $56.29 instead and do Batan Island properly rather than sprinting at three islands.

Equally, if you have five days, book this and keep the spare ones. That is the local advice, and it exists because a cancelled boat or a grounded flight otherwise deletes an island from your trip.

Know the operator contact issue before you book

One reviewer, travelling in April 2025 as a party of two to three, wrote that the phone number on the listing and the one she found online both failed, and that nobody contacted her before the tour to confirm the pickup. The pickup happened on time from her accommodation regardless, and she still left five stars.

Treat that as the known weak point: confirm through the platform's own messaging rather than by phone, and have your accommodation address in the booking exactly as the driver will need it.
